The “Dancing with the Stars” results show for week 3 started out with Mary J. Blige singing her newest hit “Real Love.” It was quite the contrast between ballroom dancers and the rhythm and blues song with the dancers actually kind of distracting. This was followed by the first reveal of the night and it was, to say the least, SHOCKING! JR and Karina were safe which was expected as well as Ricki and Derek, but what was not expected was for Chaz and Lacey to be declared safe as they have placed at the bottom all three weeks with last night being the lowest score of the night by at least four points!
The “encore dance” this week was Chynna Phillips and partner Tony Dovolani which was even more elegant and graceful than last night’s version. The second reveal was announced with Nancy and Tristan as well as Rob and Cheryl being safe but Hope and Maks in addition to Carson and Anna were in jeopardy of being eliminated. This was followed by a short segment about how all of the stars are connected by a short path with the most interesting being that Ricki Lake bought David Arquette’s house in Los Angeles. It was amusing to learn that Chynna Phillips and Chaz Bono used to have play dates together as children.
Next week, “Dancing with the Stars” will honor movie scores in the song choices for the dances. In preparation of this, the “Dancing with the Stars” troupe performed to the theme song from “Gone with the Wind.” Joining were two of the previously eliminated pros: Val Chmerkovskiy and Peta Peta Murgatroyd. It was graceful and well executed. The dresses were stunning! Julianne Hough announced she would be returning to DWTS next week to show off some of her new “Footloose” and fancy free footwork!
The Macy’s Stars of Dance performance featured Estelle and Chubby Checkers singing “The Twist” together which was fun and fabulous. Len Goodman got in on the action as well with the entire house having fun celebrating the 50th anniversary of the song and legendary dance phenomenon. This brought up the final reveal which was another stunner as David and Kym with Chynna and Tony safe while Kristin and Mark were sent to the elimination floor with Carson and Anna and Hope and Maksim.
In the stunning announcement, it was Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas who were eliminated this week. Honestly, did not see that one coming! Len Goodman summed it up when he stated “This is truly CRAZY!”
