Kelly Clarkson is full of surprises and this week in San Jose, California she gave a doozy! During her “Stronger” tour concert, she surprised fans with a cover of Bruno Mars’ It Will Rain. Kelly introduced the song to the crowd by explaining that she had asked fans to tweet ideas for cover songs for her to perform in shows. The Bruno Mars song was chosen by a fan in San Jose, and she was close enough to the stage for Kelly to see her when she gave the shout-out. Kelly’s beautiful rendition of It Will Rain can be seen in the video below:
Besides the Bruno Mars cover, Kelly performed a great set, including hits such as Breakaway, Behind These Hazel Eyes, and Since U Been Gone. She also sang her latest singles Stronger and Mr. Know It All. Kelly did an amazing rendition of Florence and the Machine’s Heavy in Your Arms, starting the song in the middle of the crowd and then making her way up to the stage amidst the strong beating of the drum cadence.
Kelly Clarkson really is the “girl next door,” chatting casually with the crowd as if she was sitting in her own living room. She joked about the heat in the room and how she couldn’t even wear her cute little jacket because it was so warm. The sweet demeanor was a huge contrast to her powerhouse vocals that brought the house down. Overall, this was a great show, keeping the filled stadium cheering and on their feet dancing for almost two hours!
