This evening is one of the biggest anticipations of the season on Dancing with the Stars…who dueled the last duel and WON? Find out as CMR brings you the results show for week 7 LIVE! Last night, it was a classical evening with individual competitions and a team competition where “Team Tango” took on “Team Paso Doble” which added more points to the individual performance scores. It was Maria Menounos and Derek Hough who stole the show with their perfect score vampified paso doble. Tonight, it is the choice of Len Goodman to see it once more in the encore performance dance. They appear much stronger with sharper movements, ending in an unexpected change with Derek stabbing and killing the “Queen of the Damned” Maria when last night it was she who took a bite out of his neck!
Gavin McGraw is waiting in the wings to perform as the first three groups find out if they are safe for another week. It just so happens to be the three who were tied for second following the individual round last night – Donald Driver and Pet Murgatroyd, Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas, and William Levy and Cheryl Burke. All are safe (duh!) as they head to off the stage to await the announcement of the fate of the others. Who will be in the final duel of their life tonight? All in good time…
Well, let’s hope you had you tissues ready tonight for the AT&T final spotlight performance of the season which was a “Welcome Back, Steelo” tribute to the rising hip hop star who suffered a major brain aneurysm last year. If the story of his illness and recovery was not enough to bring tears to your eyes, seeing him rocking the floor certainly did! He was fabulous in his first public performance since he was stricken a year ago with his crew the Groovaloos. Paula Abdul was in the audience cheering him on. He received a full house standing ovation for an amazing performance. He was overcome by emotion following the number as not many dry eyes applauded his return.
It must have been difficult for Gavin DeGraw to make a splash after that performance, but he did with a great performance of “Sweeter” accompanied by ex-dance partner, Karina Smirnoff and Louis van Amstel. Following this, was the “Ballroom Battle” which pitted three pro team mentors against one another in the newest competition for “Dancing with the Stars” where amateur couples compete head-to-head for the title. It was Team Cheryl vs. Team Karina with Team Cheryl coming out on top and perform a stellar jive in the relay tonight. Mixing it up with them was the winner of the face-off between Team Tony and Team Lacey which was won by Tony and his team came out prepared to win but looked rather jagged. Finally, it was Team Louis who had beaten Team Mark Ballas for the honor to compete tonight and were awesome with tremendous lifts and smooth transitions. This critic DID NOT agree with the judges decision who chose Team Louis for third place! Although, Team Cheryl of Allan and Allah deserved to win hands down, Team Louis was right there in a close second with Team Tony who should have been the distant third.
The final four stand before Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet to learn whether or not they will be put to the duel for life. Maria Menounos and Derek Hough who were the highest scoring team last night is safe. No surprise there! Next, it is announced that Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower are once more in jeopardy and on the way to the dance duel. In a stunning revelation, it is revealed that Melissa Gilbert and partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy are SAFE! Can you believe it? This reviewer about fell off the couch! That left Jaleel White and Kym Johnson as the other couple at the bottom.
The dance duel was a rumba to “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele. Although it appeared that Jaleel and Kym, who came out strong, would overshadow Roshon and Chelsie, it soon became apparent there was far more chemistry and fluidity to movements with Roshon and Chelsie. The judges thought so as well as they voted unanimously to keep them. In a SHOCKING elimination, it is Jaleel White and partner, Kym Johnson, who bite the dust!
