The video clips of a “hit piece” movie on Islam is nothing more that a low budget, idiotic, and stupid film that is being blamed for the deaths of one US Ambassador and two others. After about an hour of searching through endless blind links we finally found a full copy of this movie to review. In my opinion, a third grader could have made a better looking movie. The scenes are obviously fake, the “so called” actors need to go back to their day jobs, and the story line is overly abusive towards the Prophet Mohammed. So why has this idiotic film gotten so much publicity?
Certain small minded idiots used this as an excuse to go on a killing spree in Libya and it even sparked violence in Egypt. Hard liners are declaring it an insult to Islam and want the head of the man who is responsible for its making, Sam Bacile, better known as Nakoula Basseley Nakoula and a few other aliases. Protests have gone global in other countries such as Lebanon also. One of the most shocking things about all this violence is our President and Secretary of State seemed to forget about our Constitution. The Obama Administration tried to strong arm Google to remove the video from its YouTube service. Google stood up for free speech and has said it would not comply. It is a sad day when our elected officials side with idiots and try to squash the free speech in our own country.
Moderate Muslims have held memorial services for slain Ambassador Chris Stevens and other Americans that were caught up in the firestorm on 9/11. The overwhelming majority of Muslims in the world had no part in this massacre and do not support it. That brings up why this film has sparked such a reaction. Yes, there are those extremists in the world that use religion as a crux to incite violence. I am not Muslim but I have quite a few friends who are and they are great people and friends. So many comments talk about Christianity and how it does not promote violence on places like Yahoo and other sites. While we do not see it in the news as much, it exists in the modern age where a few idiots are misusing the Bible and the message of Jesus. One recent example is the Iglesia Ni Christo or Church of Christ. In 2005 a man wrote a book that was derogatory of the INC. Of course lawyers got involved and one transcript says that if the book were published there could be violence. How can a Christian organization say there will be violence if a book is published? It is the same as the radical Muslims that are telling their believers that a movie is a reason for violence.
Any religion can have people with extremist views. The solution is for the majority of people to denounce the violence as wrong without trying to appease people by agreeing that books or movies are wrong and bad things. Anytime a group of people say their views or religion is above someone else talking bad about it and they will incite violence over it, those people need to be condemned and brought to light. You can never judge any one religion over the actions of a few. We will always have people in this world that want to denigrate different religions. It is about time all these religions learn to practice what they preach and stop threatening violence or using violence over one person’s movie or opinion.
