Dr. Oz is having a blowout month dedicated to diet and health and today he has diet guru Andrew Weil on the show to give us 5 new Essentials that we need in our diets. Weil is a regular on the Doctor Oz Show and he always has some interesting ideas on how we can be healthier and thinner. His holistic approach uses food to keep our body running properly and to help prevent or reverse disease. Look for lots of new ideas on today’s show for those of us that need a little boost in our lives. Weil never talks about dieting but says weight loss is a side effect of eating the right foods.
Not only will we get more essentials today, but we will meet Weil’s personal doctor. Dr. Tieraona Low Dog tries to blend traditional medicine with more natural ways of fighting and preventing disease. She holds seminars that teach doctors the benefits of changing a patient’s lifestyle verses just prescribing medications. Her latest book called, “LIFE is Your Best Medicine: A woman’s guide to choosing health, healing and wholeness” explores the relationships between our lifestyle and our health.
With both Weil and Low Dog on the show today, we should have a wealth of information. I have personally tried a lot of the things Weil says. One thing that was the hardest is eating 40 grams of fiber a day. It took me over 3 months to get that much fiber in my system daily without the side effects of gas and other things but I feel much better now. There are many herbal remedies that our doctors either don’t know about or refuse to tell us. many of the herbs work just as good or better than prescription drugs and have fewer side effects.
