For those who did not think it was ever going to happen, there was a “Bachelorette” wedding this evening as Ashely Hebert and JP Rosenbaum tied the knot in front of family, friends, and millions of television viewers.
The show started out which some background information from the “Bachelorette” and the meeting with family to announce there had been a date set for the wedding at the Empire Hotel in Manhattan. Following this was the meeting of minds with the wedding planner, Mindy Weiss. It does seem kind of ridiculous there was two hours dedicated to this event which probably could have been summed up in about half that time.
As Mindy threw a multitude of question at the couple, they seemed to field them well and the colors chosen were champagne and dusty pink (blush). There was to be nine attendants for each side with a ring-bearer and two flower girls who were very well behaved in the end at the wedding. Chris Harrison officiated the ceremony because both Ashley and JP felt it should be someone who knew them well, and of course, he does!
The general preparations are shown such as the final fitting of the wedding gown which is a simplistic mermaid with keyhole back and lace/pearl caplet shoulders. She will be wearing pick shoes with a blinged out buckle for a touch of color. He will be in a black tuxedo. The wedding bands are chosen.
Chris Harrison meets with Jason and Molly Mesnick who have been married now for three years and are expecting their first child. This is followed by scenes from the bachelor/bachelorette parties in Scottsdale, Arizona followed by catching up with Trista and Ryan Sutter who have been married for nine years…who would have guessed they would make it this far?
When Christ talks to them about the wedding, JP lets it be known that Ashley has “baby fever” but wants to finish residency before getting pregnant but they would like two children. Sean Lowe, who will be the “Bachelor” in January for the seventeenth season, discusses some of the beginning highlights of meeting twenty-five women and from the preview clips which followed, that first night will be a dozy!
There was a bridal lunch with mimosas and final wedding preparations like hair and makeup (more filler) before the actual ceremony. I have to admit it was kind of hard not to shed a tear when Ashley started walking toward the alter as “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” by Elvis Presley was being sung…such an appropriate touch! Vows were exchanged with JP seemingly have memorized most of his while it was apparent Ashley’s were being read, a little trite and sounding rehearsed until the end when she started to break down in tears.
Chris Harrison announces the married couple as they enter the reception as Mr. and Mrs. Rosenbaum and the first dance is to “Love” by Matt White. It is not really anything special but elaborate decorations and hoopla only the “Bachelorette” could hope for on television! Tune in on January 7 at 8/7c for the season seventeen premiere of the “Bachelor” and watch how Sean Lowe handles his twenty-five women!
