Dr. Oz, January 28, 2013, has a new detox food plan, from Dr. Alejandro Junger author of “Clean”, that he says will get your diet and your body working today. Junger decided to focus on how detoxing the body can improve your health and help you lose weight. He has a list of 10 specific foods that he says will detox you and keep you full at the same time. Oz and Junger both say that many people have trouble with drinking detox shakes long enough to make them effective so an alternative was needed. Junger claims 60% of the people who follow his plan have managed to keep their weight off long term.
The Clean Detox Plan works by getting rid of the foods that are keeping your middle in an expanded state. He says we need to get rid of Dairy, Eggs, Gluten, Processed Sugar, Soy, Beef, Pork, Coffee, Soda, Alcohol, Creamed Vegetables, and Peanuts. Now this list is full of the many foods that Oz himself says are safe to eat. Junger even goes one step further by saying we should go “cold turkey” and just stop eating all of these immediately and not to try to do it little at a time. Junger says we only need to make it a few days and then our cravings will be gone for these foods.
Oz gives us a demonstration as to why doctors are looking more and more at the digestive system as a key to weight loss. A detox gets more of the good bacteria in your gut and both Oz and Junger say that good bacteria will have your body processing the nutrients from everything we eat. Now we get the 10 foods that will detox your body.
First is green leafy vegetables like brussel sprouts, broccoli, and Swiss chard. Junger says these are the king of detox foods. Second, Cold Water fish like salmon have the least amount of toxins and the most Omega 3′s. Free Range Chicken is third. Fresh berries are fourth because they are loaded with fiber. Fitfth, is Apple Cider Vinegar. Sixth is Lemon Water. Seventh is Herbal Tea. Eighth is unsweetened coconut Milk. Ninth is Coconut Oil. Tenth is Plant based protein powder.
Junger says if we incorporate these detox foods into our daily diet, we will detox our body and have a healthy digestive system. he says these foods will keep you full and you won’t go into “smoothie shock” where you crave real foods because you are only drinking detox drinks.
Junger gives us some examples of how to use these foods in our every day meals. First, for breakfast, he says to make a smoothie with 1 cup berries, 2 cups spinach, 2 cops coconut milk, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, and 1 tablespoons of plant protein powder. Just put in a blender and mix.
For lunch, Oz says to cook 2 halibut Fillets in coconut oil, cut them into large pieces and put on top of a piece of lettuce. Top the fillets with shredded red cabbage. To add a little zing, Oz says to make salsa with blueberries, bok choy, raspberries, juice from half a lemon, and salt and pepper. top the dish with this salsa for a little extra zing.
For a great snack, take fresh berries and mix with 2 cup coconut milk and 1 tablespoon of protein powder. Now Oz brings out a couple of ladies that have been using the Clean Detox Plan. The first has gone from a size 22 to a size 12. She admits the plan was hard at first because of all the stuff you are eliminating. She says it does get easier after a few days though just as Junger promises. Another lady says the plan helped her lose over 40 pounds and she says her success is because of the foods you can eat. She says the keep the cravings away and you eat smarter.
Now Oz shifts gears and talks about Homeopathic Remedies in his Homeopathic Starter Kit. Now most people think this type of treatment just means natural remedies. Oz explains that this is partially right but adds that homeopathy also uses things you have a problem with to cure you. For example, if your coffee intake is causing you to lose sleep at night, then a cure would involve coffee as part of the solution to your problem.
Dr. Lisa Samet comes on the show to give us natural ways to fight problems. First, she says Belladonna is a great way to get rid of a fever and headache. Just take 200C of this every 2 to 4 hours. Next,
Phosphorus is the best way to get rid of a chest cough. Just take 200C every 4 to 6 hours. Third, Gelsemium is a natural way to get rid of the Flu. Take 200C of this every 4 hours and you can use it for up to 3 or 4 days. Fourth, Pulsatilla is great for sinus relief. Just take 200c every 4 hours. Finally, Nux Vomica is the best way to fight indigestion. Take 200C every 12 hours or as needed.
Dr. Scott Stall is up first and he says he uses Guna Sleep to help his patients get a better night’s sleep. Just take it 20 minutes before you got to bed. Dosage is 20 drops in a glass of water. Next, Dr. Albert Levy uses Arnica Gel to help people minimize bruising after surgery and speed up recovery. You can take this 5 times an hour in pellet form or use the cream on the area 2 to 3 times a day.
Next, Dr. Karlene Chinquee says biopuncture is the best way to get rid of pain. It uses injections to reduce swelling and help aid healing and you need about4 to 6 sessions for this to work. Now Dr. Samet is back and she talks about Rescue Remedy. Oz says he and his family use this regularly and it is a blend of flower extracts that are known to reduce stress. It is a natural and quick way to get your stress under control.
