Dr. Oz, February 4, 2013, has three new ways to melt your fat away without any exercise and they are CLA, Red Wine, Apples, and Medium-chain Trigylcerides. Dr. Eva Selhub is up first and she gives us a visualization of what happens when we melt fat by having us imagine butter in a frying pan. She says the best way to melt fat is to exercise but there are some supplements we can take that will also help the pounds fall off.
First, Conjugated Linoleic Acid or CLA is a healthy fat. It is not produced in the body so we need to get it from outside sources. More CLA in your diet means you melt more fat off your body. You can get this naturally from Beef and Dairy products but you can also get a supplement. Selhub says you need to take 1 gram three times a day and you should make sure the supplement is made with Safflower Oil.
Next, Pyruvate is produced by our bodies when it burns or breaks down sugars. It actually shrinks and eliminates fat cells from our body. You get it from apples, grapes, and even red wine but you would get pretty drunk trying to drink enough wine to get a benefit. She suggests getting a Pyruvate supplement and taking 6 grams a day for 8 weeks at a time.
Finally, Medium-Chain Triglycerides or MCT are one of the easiest fats to digest as they go straight through the body to the liver. MCT’s are the best way to get rid of that last 5 pounds stubbornly clinging to your belly. Selhub says we can either take 2 tbsp. of coconut oil a day or get a supplement and use 10 to 20 grams a day.
Now Kate Geagan returns to the show and she says that wee need to combine some things to get rid of stubborn pounds that refuse to leave. Her first combination is Calcium and Vitamin D. We have all heard Oz talking about both of these but Geagan says that studies show people that use these lose 50% more belly fat. Oz says Calcium actually takes fat out of your system. He explains that it binds to fat cells and pushes them out of the body. He says we need to take 1000 IU a day of vitamin D and 600 mg of Calcium a day.
Oz has always talked of how Oranges and Avocados are great natural stress and fat reducers. Oranges help reduce stress and cortisol levels and Avocados contain mono unsaturated fats that will get you thinner. Eating these together will lower your stress and help you get thinner. Finally, Geagan says that ginger and green tea are her favorite fat busting combo. This is called Matcha Tea and it will help you burn more calories while your body is resting and it is loaded with Antioxidants and EGCG.
Jorge Cruise is now on the show and he says that there is one supplement that will cause you to burn 42% more calories without exercise. Capsicum Extract is made from cayenne pepper and Oz has talked about this before. Jorge says that if you exercise this supplement will actually work even better. You need to take 200mg about 1 hour before you exercise and you need to look for all natural ingredients with Cayenne pepper as the main one.
Jorge gives us some simple exercises that anyone can do. He says we can do knee lifts and side lunges anywhere and they are a great way to strengthen all of your core muscles. Knee Lifts are simple: Just stand straight and raise your knee up and touch your opposite elbow. Side Lunges are when you move from side to side while dropping one knee down to a split squat.
