Dr. Oz, February 11,2013, is talking about the fillers, ingredient swaps, and outright fraud that the food industry is perpetrating on the consumer and how it can harm your health. Oz has always told us to look carefully at the ingredients in processed foods. Many of these foods contain chemicals and fillers that can wreck our diet and our health. He is constantly telling us what to look for in our supplements so that we get the most bang for our buck when we are shopping.
Today, Oz has Shaun Kennedy, Dan Flynn, Beth Lowell, and Dr. Devi Nampiaparampil on the show to give us the details the food industry doesn’t want you to know. Did you know that fillet of Albacore Tuna might not even be tuna at all? A fish called Escolar has been substituted for Albacore and you really can’t tell the difference by looking at the fillets. Processed foods are not the only things we need to worry about. Many companies bulk up their meats by adding fillers and even water to increase the weight. Shrimp companies actually soak our favorite seafood in a solution that causes them to look bigger and weigh more. That is why buying fresh is usually the best way to get your seafood but many of us don’t have that option.
Oz will give us the details on what we need to look for in our products so we can be sure that we are buying exactly what thought we were. This is a must see show for anyone who is concerned about their health. Oz comes on at different times across the US so check your local listings for the time in your area. What a great show to motivate me to get involved. I am still in shock how the consumer is ripped off constantly.
It’s gotta stop. We need a way to organize, mobilize and change policy and encourage government organizations to do more than advise — isn’t protection part of many of the agency names? Incredible information.
