This week Britney Spears premiered her much anticipated new song “Ooh La La,” which will play over the end credits of the “THE SMURFS™ 2” movie. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest she said she recorded it for her boys, who love the Smurfs movie. “We’ve seen The Smurfs movie a million trillion times and they were told they could be in the video and all this cool stuff, so that’s the reason why I did it” Britney shared with Ryan.
More than 2.3 million listeners have already checked out the audio for the song on VEVO. Also, even though the song just hit the radio on Monday, a new cover has already surfaced on the Internet by season 8 American Idol finalist Anoop Desai. Obviously home-made and without the techno pop sound of Britney’s version, Anoop did a good job of turning the superstar’s song into a toned down, less funky version. Anoop covers a different song every week and uploads official HD videos to his YouTube channel on Wednesdays. His recent cover of Jason Derulo’s “The Other Side” is very popular, garnering almost 75,000 views.
Ooh La La was written by Lukasz Gottwald (Dr. Luke), Joshua Coleman (Ammo), Henry Walter (Cirkut), Bonnie McKee, Jacob Kasher Hindlin (J Kash), Lola Blanc and Fransisca Hall, and produced by Dr. Luke, Ammo and Cirkut for Prescription Songs. For a limited time, “Ooh La La” and “Vacation” are available as a bundle offer at select retailers including iTunes, Amazon and Wal*mart. The soundtrack, The Smurfs™ 2 (Music From and Inspired by), is also available for pre order at select online retailers.
Ooh La La is a great song, whether you prefer Britney’s fun, young version or Anoop’s more adult, chill rendition. What do you think of Ooh La La and who sang it best? You can watch Anoop’s version below.
