The Dr. Oz Show, 9/2/2013, gave us the biggest experiment Oz has ever performed on a product to test the effects of Green Coffee Bean Extract on weight loss. Oz stated that he does not endorse any specific brand but gave us the general guidelines for what the Green coffee extract we buy should contain for maximum results. I was a little disappointed that Oz did not explore why the test group, that got the placebo and still lost weight, managed to lose quite a few pounds. So what do you look for in this supplement and what is the dosage? Read on to find out……
Green Coffee is just raw coffee beans that have not been roasted yet. Yes, it does contain caffeine and we know that caffeine is an energy booster that will make you burn more calories. Green Coffee actually helps the body metabolize Glucose. This is due to the Chlorogenic Acid, quinides, lignans, and trigonelline it contains. Oz talked in detail about how Chlorogenic Acid blocks the enzyme glucose-6-phosphatase. This enzyme is responsible for promoting sugar build up in the liver. Chlorogenic Acid also allows your body to burn more stored fat by slowing the absorption of new fat from the food you eat.
In Oz’s experiment, the group that got the real extract lost an 84 pounds in just two weeks. This is their total weight loss and the biggest losers only lost about 4 pounds each. Oz says the experiment proved, once again, that there is no miracle diet pill and nothing replaces eating right and getting regular exercise. He added that this could be a great catalyst to the person who is trying to lose weight and is not getting the results they want. So what should you look for in Green Coffee Bean Supplements?
Oz recommends we make sure our Green Coffee has no filler ingredients in it. He says we need to look for the words like SVETOL, GCA, or Green Coffee Antioxidant on the label. He says to make sure it contains at least 45% Chlorogenic Acid for the best results. You will need to take 400mg three times a day. It is best to take the extract 30 minutes before your meals.
Oz says that people who are allergic to caffeine or coffee need to stay away from Green Coffee and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, then look for another way to get rid of the pounds. The key to sustained weight loss is motivation and eating the right foods while exercising. Oz says this can help keep you motivated but it is not a miracle diet pill.
