In a recent interview, CMR had the distinct pleasure of speaking with the beautiful Indie actress, Tanna Frederick, about her role in “OVATION!” where she goes toe-to-toe with the hunky James Denton as an actress whose initial aspirations were to star among the lights in Hollywood only to find her true calling lies in the curtain calls of middle America community theatre where truth lies in the ties of family and not in the lines of a contract.
The relaxed and incredibly personable Frederick talked about the transitions she has personally seen as she has evolved in this role of Maggie Chase (aka Margie Chizek) through the years in the trilogy of “Hollywood Dreams” (2006) to “Queen of the Lot” (2010) and finally “OVATION!” (2015). She commented on working with such names as Noah Wyle (“ER”), Justin Kirk (“Weeds”), Eric Roberts (“Lost Girl”), James Denton (“Desperate Housewives”) as well as her consistent relationship in these films with director, Henry Jaglom, and others like Zack Norman and Sabrina Jaglom.
Amidst all of the projects she has going from being the celebrity ambassador for the French perfume company, Acorelle, who manufacturers 100% certified natural products to overseeing her Save Our Surf organization promoting environmental leadership in the conservation of water and preservation of marine ecosystems is her production debut for the virtual series, “Defrost”, with Harry Hamlin (“Mad Men”) which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival this year. She voiced extreme pride in this endeavor, a twelve episode science fiction series written by Randal Kleiser about a woman frozen for thirty years awaken. She stars in the series as well which attests to her work ethic and talent.
If this isn’t enough to have on one’s plate, she is onstage in “Jack and Jill” at the Santa Monica Playhouse as well as just finishing “Garner, Iowa” and “The Bandit Hound” where she works with a host of other actors like Lou Ferrigno, Judd Nelson, and Katherine Bell under the direction of Michelle Danner whom Frederick has a history with including collaboration on the set of “OVATION!”
CMR plans to keep up with her in her career and will talk further with Frederick following the distribution of the “Defrost” series. In the meantime, get set for a new experience in film…virtual reality.
