On today’s edition of “The Dr. Oz Show”, Dr. Oz discusses the unexpected disadvantages of a certain type of food that is commonly thought to be healthy and beneficial to a person’s health and weight, but may in fact be having the opposite effect.
Dr. Oz is joined on set by nutritionist, J. J. Smith, who helps Dr. Oz and his audience understand the differences in a variety of different fruit, and great combinations of fruit and other food products in order to have a great protein filled diet.
The first combination that J. J. Smith introduces is a great protein and fruit combo of turkey slices wrapped around thin slices of apples. One of the unique things about this food combo is that it does not require having a bread products in it, and can function both as a lovely snack, or as a fulfilling meal too.
Another great snacking option is again a fruit and protein combination, made up of blueberries and walnuts. This great mixture of blueberries and walnuts is satisfyingly sweet, and with tasty alternating of crunchy and soft textures. Walnuts, and most other nuts in general are high in omega-3 fatty acids, which does wonders when it comes to a healthy heart.
When it comes to fruit, J. J. Smith knows what she is talking about. The first new rule she lays down is that you should eat the fruit with the skin in tact, as fruit skin is rich in fibers that it beneficial to effective weight loss, as it slows the absorption of sugar into the body, and keeps one feeling fuller for a longer period of time. Another key thing to keep in mind, that juicing is not the best way to eat a fruit, as it strips out much of the beneficial parts of the fruit.
