Doctor Oz, June 18, 2018, revisits the metabolism discussion with nutritionist Haylie Pomroy discussing how the metabolism determines what type of diet will work for you. Haylie says there is no one size fits all plan to lose weight and Oz has said this many times. She offers a quiz to determine a person’s metabolism type so each individual can get the nutrients they need to allow the body to burn off excess fat and stay healthy. Not highlighted in our original recap was Oz’s foods to accelerate your metabolism and Pomroy’s rules to stimulate your metabolism.
3 Rules to Stimulate Your Metabolism
- Rule #1: Eat 5 times a day. The body needs fuel to survive. Fasting and other deprivation techniques cause the body to conserve as much energy as it can and can lead to weight gain. Haylie says we need to eat 3 healthy meals and 2 healthy snacks throughout the day to get the digestive engine running.
- Rule #2: Never Fast before you go fast. If we start heavy activity or exercise on an empty stomach, the body feeds on itself for energy and muscle is the first thing that gets burned. Haylie says we need to fuel the body before exercise to rev up the fat burning engine and get the micro nutrients needed to allow cells to release stored fat.
- Rule #3: Get a restful sleep. They body loses the most weight during sleep. Haylie says this is the most important rule that we get a good restful sleep each night to allow the body to liquidate fat. Again, eating the right micro nutrients all day will give the body what it needs to burn off those excess pounds while we dream.
