7 tips for better health and weight loss:
Mix Your Protein
Eating animal protein every day, multiple times a day is not the healthiest habit for your body. Instead try to balance out your protein with vegan sources like beans, tofu, tempeh, and seeds. The best diets have three servings of protein a day. Try to make at least two of them vegan-based for a healthier meal plan.
Eat Plenty of Veggies
Vegetables are loaded with the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that keep your body healthy and strong. Make sure you are eating your greens and other vegetables throughout the day. While you should aim for one serving at each meal, try adding in some snacks or doubling up at dinner for a total of five cups of delicious vegetables per day.
Make Exercise a Part of Your Daily Life
Physical activity is a big part of living a healthy life. How you treat your body and how often you keep it moving is just as important as what foods you put inside of it. You don’t need to work out every day or even for long periods of time, just try to get in a minimum of thirty minutes of exercise three times a week.
Make Healthy Carb Choices
Fact: Contrary to popular belief, carbs are actually good for your body. As long as you eat the right type of carbs. Picking the best carbs for your body is important not only for weight loss but for overall health as well. Focus your energy on fruit (yes – fruits contain carbs!) and whole grains in moderation.
Switch to Non-Dairy Products
Non-dairy substitutes are much better for your body than their dairy counterparts. Try experimenting with different nut milk, alternative ingredient yogurts, and vegan cheese. Don’t go overboard on the swaps though, you shouldn’t have more than one serving a day for maximum weight loss benefits.
Eat Fat (Healthy Fat, That Is)
The monounsaturated fats in foods like olive oil, coconut oil, nuts, and avocados are what make these fats so healthy. Monounsaturated fats help nourish your body while also keeping your heart happy and healthy. Add some of these beneficial fats into your meals for optimal health results.
Just because you are dieting or eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the all the fun and celebratory occasions life has to offer. While you should limit your alcohol intake and not drink in excess, enjoying a cocktail once or twice a week isn’t going to kill you. Additionally, you can (and should) indulge in dessert every once in a while, and have a cheat day to make sure you are enjoying your life to the fullest while still making healthy choices overall.
