New York (CMR) - Shannen Doherty will be back to play Brenda Walsh on the new CW spin-off of “Beverly Hills 90210” called “90210”.

CW announced that in this new series Walsh will be returning to Beverly Hills as a theatre director working on a musical.

Tori Spelling told PEOPLE that the return of Doherty is “Probably the best news the fans could ever get. All the girls on the show will be psyched!” Doherty’s guest role plays out over multiple episodes, the network said. ”

If she and Jennie have it out while I’m there, OK, then, all right, so that’s the story,” McCord said of any possible discord during production.

“We’re co-workers, we’re going to be co-stars and I want to treat her (Doherty) with the respect that I would treat any other co-star,” said McCord.

Doherty originally left “Beverly Hills 90210” due to conflicts with Jennie Garth who will also be returning as Kelly Taylor.

Ebert quit the show when Roeper couldn’t come to a financial agreement with Disney-ABC Domestic Television after his 8 season contract expired.

The current show is hosted by Roeper and Michael Phillips as Ebert had medical complications after surgery which caused him to lose his voice and stop appearing.

They will film four more episodes and their TV run will end on August 15th.

Ebert started on this show with Gene Siskel in 1975 and when Siskel died in 1999 Roeper took over.

Ebert will continue to write reviews for the Chicago Sun-Times. Roeper intends on starting up another movie critic show in the future.

Arlington  (CMR) - Fox Atomic has picked up “Accidentes” which Accidentes will produce and possibly star in.

The film will be written by Peter Baynman who had an Oscar nomination for the script of Borat.

According to Variety “Accidentes” will be based on a lawyer of Latin descent who transforms from contingency attorney to hero of the working class when he helps an immigrant win a judgment against his wealthy employer after a landscaping mishap.

He also becomes the enemy of L.A.’s power elite. Baron Cohen has just completed his latest comedy called “Bruno” and will be playing Sherlock Holmes alongside Watson played by fellow comedian Will Ferrell in Jimmy Miller and Judd Apatow’s film. No production date has been set for “Accidentes”

New York (CMR) - Variety confirmed that Michael Rymer will in fact be directing the adaptation of the comic book series “Witchblade”.

It is a fantasy which involves a jewel-encrusted gauntlet that bestows extraordinary powers upon the possessor, one chosen female from each generation.

Rymer is known for directing 20 and producing 40 episodes of “Battlestar Galactica”.

He has recently finished filming on a four-hour series pilot for NBC Universal Media Studios called “Revolution”.

“Witchblade” is in co-production of Platinum Studios, Top Cow Productions and Arclight Films.

She was 84 years old and had been suffering from advanced dementia. Getty is best known for her role on the TV comedy “The Golden Girls” where she played the mother named Sophia.

“The Golden Girls” was about four retired ladies who shared a house in Miami. Getty was 47 when she started the show which she won a Golden Globe Award for in 1986 as well as an American Comedy Award.

Her son said “She was loved throughout the world in six continents, and if they loved sitcoms in Antarctica she would have been loved on seven continents. She was one of the most talented comedic actresses who ever lived.”

Getty is survived by sons Carl and Barry Gettleman, a brother, David Scher and a sister, Rosilyn Howard.

Los Angeles (CMR) - Christian Bale, who plays Batman in the movie of the year, The Dark Knight, was arrested after being accused of assault.

His mother, Jenny, 60 and sister, Sharon, 40 alleged that Bale “lashed out” at them Sunday night at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

Bale was taken in by Hampshire police, held and questioned for four hours then released on bail.

No charges have been laid yet to the 34 year-old actor but he has to return for further questioning in September.

This all happened a day before the London premiere of “The Dark Knight”. Bale denies all allegations.

Arlington (CMR) - Oh She’s just being Miley.

In a recent interview with TV Guide (who reads TV Guide anymore?), Miley Cyrus said she would love to make a “cleaner” version of ‘Sex And The City.’

The Hannah Montana star admitted that she adored the show even though she saw the edited for TV version.

She said: “I’d love to do a younger, cleaner version of ‘Sex and the City’. I like to think of myself as the girl that no one can get, that no one can keep in their hand.”

Cyrus, 15, also revealed she wears a ‘purity ring’ to signify her commitment to abstaining from sex until she gets married.

She told TV Guide magazine: “Even at my age, a lot of girls are starting to fall. And I think if staying a virgin is a commitment girls make, that’s great.”

And in regards to the photos which appeared in Vanity fair, Cyrus said that she tries to avoid the negativity.

“I want to be a positive role model, so we just try to keep that stuff as much not talked about as possible. I don’t dwell on the negativity,” Cyrus added.

Variety announced that Thom Beers, executive producer of “Deadliest Catch”, “Ice Road Truckers” and “Monster Garage” all for the Discovery Channel, will be producing “Chopper Zombie” along with Philip Segal.

“Chopper Zombie” is about a motorcycle builder who refuses to sell his formula for a new super fuel to a dangerous corporation.

A team of thugs ends up drowning him in this formula but he comes back from the dead to get even.

Todd Livingston will write the comic with the illustrations being done by Scott Keating. The comic is out on July 30th.

New York (CMR) - The Dark Knight is off to an incredible start at the box office.

The film is exceeding initial expectations, shattering records left and right this weekend.

The most notable: the new Batman film is now the biggest debut ever in U.S. box office history, especially impressive for an opening on a non-holiday weekend.

The Dark Knight took in $155.34 million Fri-Sun.

“It just took on a life of its own,” said Dan Fellman, Warner’s president for theatrical distribution. “You never expect anything like this.”

“The Dark Knight” stars actor Christian Bale as Batman and Heath Ledger as the Joder.  The film was  directed by English filmmaker Christopher Nolan.

Toronto (CMR) - Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page was arrested for drugs on on Friday.

The 38-year-old singer was found at an apartment in Fayetteville, New York with two women, aged 25 and 27, around 2am.

Police approached the home after noticing a suspicious car outside, and saw people at the window “engaged in something.” A white substance found on the kitchen table tested positive for cocaine.

A 25-year-old woman was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Page posted his US$10,000 bail and is due back in court Thursday.

CFRB news in Toronto reports that the singer used a rolled Canadian bill to snort the drug.

Barenaked Ladies management told MuchMoreMusic’s The Loop that they are confident Steven will be “completely exonerated” from the charges.

The incident will no doubt tarnish the band’s clean image, and perhaps affect sales of their recently released children’s album called Snack Time.

Stephen Page split with his wife of 14 years last year and has three sons.
