Departed Wins Best Picture At 79th Academy Awards

Los Angeles (CMR) - The winners at this years Academy Awards were pretty predictable.

Helen Mirren took home the Best Actress awards for her portrayal of Elizabeth the 2nd in The Queen.

Forest Whitaker won for his role as the menacing Idi Amin in The Last King Of Scotland.

Jennifer Hudson continued her winning streak taking the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Dreamgirls.

However, Eddie Murphy’s winning streak came to a halt.

The actor was a favorite to win the Best Supporting Actor award for his work in Dreamgirls but the trophy instead went to Alan Arkin for his role in Little Miss Sunshine.

Best Documentary went to the Al Gore fronted An Inconvenient Truth and the Oscars finally gave Martin Scorsese his year.

The much-revered director took home the Best Director statue after losing five times in previous years.

His movie The Departed also won Best Picture.
