Los Angeles (CMR) - The new Harry Potter film, The Order Of The Phoenix, has shattered another box office record, and it’s only been in theatres for two days!

On opening day, the fifth film in the franchise took in close to US$45 million, the highest for a Wednesday ever.

“The results from this film - in all formats - are outstanding. It’s by far the strongest Harry Potter title in the franchise, breaking records for both the Studio and IMAX,” said Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures.

“The increased number of IMAX venues and the first-time 3-D finale delivered a huge opening weekend win for the large screen format - we’re thrilled for their achievement,” Fellman added.

Potter is stillo also dominating overseas, taking in an estimated $29.2 million for Wednesday from 29 countries.
