Oscars Bomb, Sort Of

February 26, 2008 · Print This Article

Los Angeles (CMR) - This year’s Academy Awards televised broadcast had the lowest ratings in the US ever,  Access Hollywood reported Monday.

The show, hosted by Jon Stewart, averaged about 32-million viewers, down almost 10-million from last year.

The decline in numbers is being blamed on the crop of nominated films, many of which received critical acclaim but did modestly at the box office.

The highest rated Oscars broadcast was in 1998, when Titanic took home 11 awards.
