Los Angeles (CMR) - Looking back to the sports themed movies that Will Ferrell had a trademark for, such as Talladega Nights and Blades of Glory, here is yet another spin on a sports favorite: basketball.
Semi-Pro was released in February 29, 2008, directed by Kent Alterman and written by Scot Armstrong.
Set in the 1970’s the story focuses on the struggles of an American Basketball Association team to make it big in the National Basketball Association.
Will Ferrell plays Jackie Moon, manager and owner of the Flint Tropics of the ABA.
Other co-stars in this slam-dunking funky film are Woddy Harrelson, who plays Monix, and Outkast frontman Andre 3000 Benjamin, who is top player Clarence.
Comments on Semi-Pro from critics and fans vary.
Praises from comedy fanatics and Will Ferrell movie followers have been released, with statements saying that this sports film truly has that touch that only Ferrell can deliver.
However, some critics were not exactly hot on the idea of another sports spoof by Ferrell, since he has been using the 1970’s as the setting for a notable number of films already.
Release dates for Semi-Pro are as follows, according to the IMDB: Singapore on March 20, Australia on April 3, and in other European countries in May 2008.
The film opened on Friday across the U.S. and Canada.
