Stuntman Dead on John Woo’s Set

June 12, 2008 · Print This Article

Los Angeles (CMR) - A stuntman was killed and six people were injured Monday morning during filming of John Woo’s “The Battle of Red Cliff”.

The stuntman was killed and others injured when a small boat crashed into the set of an ancient warship causing it to catch fire and spread rapidly.

This is one of many setbacks in the filming of the most expensive movie ever made in Asia at $80 million. Earlier in production there were delays due to weather and scheduling.

The film, adapted from China’s classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, is written as a four-hour film but for North American audiences it will be shown in a condensed version at 2½ hours long.

“The Battle of Red Cliff” is due to come out in December of next year.
