New York - Batman’s infamous sidekick could get his very own show if plans at the CW go though.

The network that brought us Smallville is preparing a series based on Robin, before his superhero days, reports Variety.

The real-life series has already received a pilot commitment and is being produced by Smallville executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, along with Supernatural executive producer McG.

The Graysons will follow Dick “DJ” Grayson’s pre-Robin days and his family and could serve as a potential replacement for Smallville if that show ends this season.

The article also says that if Smallville does carry on, The Graysons could make a strong “companion piece.”

The one-hour show will be set in modern times, much like the Clark Kent version, and will include challenges such as first loves, rivals and family.

No word on how far from the original tale producers will stray. In the Batman world, Grayson’s family was a group of acrobats that were sabotaged during an act, leaving the boy orphaned.
