Box Office Looking Up

In its first weekend, “Up”, the animated comedy from Pixar took the top spot at the box office earning $68.2 million and making it the third biggest opening for a Pixar film behind “Finding Nemo” and “The Incredibles”.
Last week’s winner “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” starring Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Amy Adams, Owen Wilson and Hank Azaria fell into second with $25.5 million.
Another new release this week was the horror film from Universal and director Sam Raimi (“Spiderman” franchise) called “Drag Me to Hell” which came in third grossing $16.6 million.
In fourth this week was “Terminator: Salvation” adding another $16.1 million for a ten day total of $90.7 million.
Finally rounding out the top five this weekend in its fourth week was “Star Trek” with $12.8 million pushing it over the $200 million mark; the first movie to do that this year.
