Universal Pictures, the movie company that has the hit movie “Couples Retreat”, has found itself in the middle of a race controversy after removing the two African American actors from the promotional poster. It seems the geniuses at Universal decided to use a different poster to market the movie worldwide. This new poster features the main stars Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Kristen Davis, Malin Akerman, and Jean Reno. This omits the two African American actors Faizon Love and Kali Hawk. Actress Kali Hawk even has her name removed from the new poster. This has sparked outrage and claims of racism against Universal. The studio says it had used a different poster that featured the more recognizable stars, for the worldwide campaign. It looks like Universal made a BIG mistake here and it will probably hurt the movie’s performance overseas. As Ricky used to say to Lucy, somebody’s “got some splainin’ to do”.
