Marty Bender, the executive producer for the Bob & Tom Show, has gotten the axe due to budget cuts. He has been with Clear Channel for over 20 years, the last two of them devoted exclusively to the Bob and Tom Show. His position was eliminated, reports indianaairwaves.com.
Marty Bender was also the Vice President of Programming for Premiere Radio Networks, which syndicates the Bob and Tom Show, and which in turn is owned by Clear Channel. He has a huge background in radio, with a long track record of success.
Not much else is known about this budget cut, and whether it was a Premier decision or a Clear Channel decision, or if the Bob and Tom Show had anything to do with it. It has to be a sad day though for the top-ranked morning comedy show, and kind of a scary indicator of the economic recession that Washington keeps trying to tell us is under control. If a successful radio show like Bob & Tom have to cut their budget that drastically, then what about the rest of us?
