Los Angeles (CMR) - Tuesday was Dolly Parton night on American Idol, with the country-music legend mentoring the remaining contestants.
Speaking about appearing on the show, Parton said she was happy to be there, but said she didn’t like criticizing other people’s singing.
“I couldn’t go on and criticize somebody else’s singin’,” she said during an interview segment.
Tuesday night was a special night on American Idol indeed, as many of the contestants brought out some terrific performances.
First out of the gate to perform was Brooke White with “Jolene.” This was followed by David Cook with “Little Sparrow.” The first two performances were wellreceived, but nothing over the top.
Ramiele Maluby and Jason Castro were next out of the gate, as Cook had his best performance of the competition with “Traveling Through.”
Carly Smithson and David Archuleta both had stellar performances with “Here You Come Again” and “Smoky Mountain Memories” It was clear this week that David Archuleta was back to form.
Closing out the show was Kristy Lee Cook, Michael Johns and Syesha.
Syesha took a bold move with “I Will Always Love You.” The judges thought it was well-done, but nothing close to the Whitney Houston version.
In most likelihood, Ramiele Malubay or Kristy Lee Cook will be voted off tonight — but stranger things have happned. Syesha took a huge risk with The Whitney Houston song which didn’t pay off.
The results show is set for Wednesday night per usual.
