According to reports given to the Las Vegas Sun on November 6th by Joe Perry, the guitarist for the rock mega-band Aerosmith: Aerosmith long-time front man and lead singer, Steven Tyler has quit the band.  On a telephone interview from his home in Boston, Perry told the Sun, “Steven has quit as far as I can tell. I don’t know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long…other than that, I don’t know.”  Bassist Tom Hamilton also opened up to the press last week, expressing his concern of Tyler’s situation and his hope that the band can soon work out their differences.
Steven Tyler, 61, (that’s unbelievable, right?) is rumored to have left the band following an Aerosmith concert in Abu Dhabi Sunday at the Grand Prix. Most of Aerosmith’s recent world tour was canceled after Tyler fell from a stage at a Sturgis, South Carolina concert and broke is his shoulder; a move that was rumored to have displeased band-mates. The two final dates were salvaged, one in Hawaii and the second, the aforementioned Abu Dhabi concert.
No final word on whether or not the band will look for a Steven Tyler replacement; after forty years of rocking together, it’s hard to believe such a person could even exist, that there could be another form of the one, the great Aerosmith.
