Last season, the mascot for the Kansas City Royals was accused of poking a fan’s eye out with a hot wiener during a game. Now a lawsuit has been filed by the fan.

John Coomer says he was simply watching the game when the mascot “climbed atop the third base dugout and started shooting hotdogs into the stands from an air gun.”

Coomer claims that Slugger the Lion gave up on the air gun and started throwing the hot dogs into the stands by hand, one of which hit Coomer in the eye.

In his lawsuit, Coomer says the hot dog left him with a detached retina and the development of cataracts.

The lawsuit is for over $25,000, for negligence and battery, and he claims they “failed to adequately train its agents … in the proper method in which to throw hotdogs into the stands at Kauffman Stadium.”

Maybe the team should recruit Slugger as a starting pitcher?
