New York (CMR) - Actor Heath Ledger has died.
A housekeeper found him on the floor near his bed in his New York apartment Tuesday, Access Hollywood reported.
Police were called to the scene where they found an “unresponsive male”.
CNN is reporting that he died around 3:30PM ET.
The cause of death is unclear. While police issued a statement saying that both prescription and non-prescription drugs were found near the body, Heath’s parents issued a statement last yesterday insisting that it was not a suicide. Heath was 28-years-old.
The actor, best known for his work in 2005’s Brokeback Mountain, a role that nabbed him an Academy Award nomination, recently starred as one of many Bob Dylan’s in the biopic I’m Not There.
Ledger leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter, Matilda Rose, whose mother is actress Michelle Williams. The couple split in the fall.
An autopsy performed on Ledger early this morning was inconclusive and more tests will be needed to determine cause of death, the New York medical examiner’s office has said.
