Arlington (CMR) – Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, according to statements given by the star’s publicist on March 5, Wednesday. Reuters reported that Annett Wolf, the said publicist for Swayze, told the press that the 55-year old actor has been regularly receiving treatment and has been responding well.
Earlier within the week, there have been malicious tabloid reports that claim how Swayze is in a very grave condition, and that doctor’s have given him only a short time to live. Wolf immediately disproved these claims, issuing a statement from Swayze’s doctor, George Fisher. According to the physician, “All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”
The actor’s publicist adds that they are very appreciative of the support and concern for Swayze’s health.
According to the National Cancer Institute, pancreatic cancer has about 37,000 new cases every year. Research is currently being done to battle this condition as well as many other cancers.
Patrick Swayze, a native of Houston, Texas, can be best remembered for his timeless performances in films like “Dirty Dancing,” which became a hit in 1987, and “Ghost,” which was released in 1990.
