New York (CMR) - Reuters reports that Blade star, Wesley Snipes, has been recommended by prosecutors to face the maximum sentence of three years behind bars in addition to a $5 million fine for tax evasion.
The 45-year-old The Art of War actor allegedly short-changed the U.S. government $41 million over several years of “brazen defiance” of tax laws.
U.S. Attorney Robert O’Neill from Florida argued, “The case cries out for the statutory maximum term of imprisonment, as well as a substantial fine, because of the seriousness of defendant Snipes’ crimes and because of the singular opportunity this case presents to deter tax crime nationwide.”
According to WENN, Snipes’ official sentencing is due on April 24.
