Smallville star, Michael Rosenbaum, won’t be reprising his role as baddie Lex Luthor in the next season of the sci-fi drama.

Los Angeles (CMR) - Smallville star, Michael Rosenbaum, won’t be reprising his role as baddie Lex Luthor in the next season of the sci-fi drama.

According to E! Online, the planned departure was confirmed by the show’s producers.

“It has been an honor and pleasure to work with Michael for the past six seasons,” stated the show’s executive producers. Rosenbaum released his own note of thanks, stating, “. . . I appreciate you all more thank you know. That being said, it is time for me to start the next chapter of my life and career. . . Thanks crew. Thanks fans. Thanks Smallville.”

In other “Smallville news, the producers said that next season will introduce Doomsday, the villain known for being the only one ever to kill Superman in the comic books.
