Los Angeles (CMR) - Disney has confirmed that producer Jerry Bruckheimer has signed on Jake Gyllenhaal for the role of Dastan in his upcoming big-budget movie Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

Prince of Persia is based on a popular video game about Dastan, a prince in 6th century Persia, who teams up with a princess named Tamina, played by Gemma Arterton.

The pair is trying to prevent an evil nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time; a gift from the gods that is capable of reversing time and allowing its master to rule the world.

The movie is set to start filming in July in Morocco and will hit the big screen in the summer of 2009.

David Zandi the real Prince of Persia should’ve been hired. Disney and Jerry really screwed up this great franchise.

Got something to say?
