Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong split

New York (CMR) - The unofficial couple has officially broken up.

Call it relationship whiplash: Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong have called it splits before they’d even been officially confirmed as a couple.

The three-month romance-wait, make that “whirlwind romance”-ended this past weekend, according to Us Weekly.

After being spotted on a dinner date in glamorous Austin, Texas in mid-May, the honey-hued pair quickly went from “those two know each other?” to “America’s next golden couple!” They even spent Father’s Day together with their children from previous relationships: Hudson has a son, Ryder, with ex-hubby and aging rocker Chris Robinson, while Lance, previously engaged to Sheryl Crowe, has three kids.

Hudson was on the post-Owen Wilson rebound when she was seen kissing Armstrong at a Dolce & Gabbana party during the film festival in Cannes. But Armstrong, a seven-time Tour de France champion, has a rather less victorious track record when it comes to relationships: in this year alone, he’s been briefly linked to several Hollywoodites, from Ashley Olsen to Ivanka Trump.

And Hudson’s no slump, either, having dated just about every shaggy-haired Californicator before trying out the cleaner-shaven bike champ.

“There was no drama or ugliness,” declares a source “close to the couple” (read: temporary receptionist at Kate Hudson’s hair salon) to Us Weekly, today’s edition. “They just decided to end things. There is no hatred, just sadness.”

Well, at least they’ll always have… er… the three-day Lance Armstrong Livestrong Summit in Columbus, Ohio, where they were seen together this past weekend. Ah, there’s the stuff of unforgettable love.

Neither Hudson’s nor Armstrong’s representative has cared to comment.
