Los Angeles (CMR) - Samantha Who? star Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer, reports The Associated Press.
Her publicist released the following statement:
“Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection… the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery.”
Applegate recently received her first lead actress Emmy nomination for Samantha Who? — where she plays the title character, a young woman who wakes up from an week-long coma remembering nothing about her scandalous past — but is an Emmy winner, for her guest role on Friends. She also has a Golden Globe nomination for her Samantha role, as well as her other starring role in the past series, Jesse.
Applegate scheduled to appear on the one-hour special, Stand Up To Cancer, on Sept. 5, which will air on ABC, CBS and NBC to raise funds for cancer research.
