George Clooney up for The Challenge

New York (CMR) - George Clooney has just purchased the rights to a legal thriller titled “The Challenge” written by Jonathan Mahler.

“The Challenge” is about a campaign by U.S Navy Lawyer Charles Swift and Georgetown law professor Neal Katyal to ensure Salim Hamdan, the bodyguard for Osama bin Laden, has a fair trial.

Hamdan was convicted and sentenced by military officers at Guantanamo Bay on August 7th to a prison term of 66 months. Variety reports that this film will be developed through Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smoke House production company.

There hasn’t been any word on the role that Clooney will play in the making of this film.
