Farrah Fawcett, Forever an Angel
Farrah Fawcett, the 70’s icon that we all fell in love with, passed away Thursday after a long battle with anal cancer. She was 62. At her side was her long time love Ryan O’Neal and her best friend Alana Stewart.
Farrah, best know for her role as Jill Munroe in the 1970’s television series “Charlie’s Angels,” was diagnosed with cancer in September 2006. In spread to her liver in 2007, despite numerous medical treatments in Germany and California.
She was born Mary Farrah Leni Fawcett in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 2, 1947. After attending Roman Catholic grade school and W.B. Ray High School, She enrolled at the University of Texas. She was voted one of the 10 most beautiful people on campus, her picture was spotted by David Mirisch, who suggested she pursue a film career.
She became a national sex symbol in the late 1970’s after appearing in Charlie’s Angels. Her face helped sell lunch boxes, T-shirts and shampoo. The poster with her wearing a red one-piece bathing suit sold 12 million copies. Breaking the previous records of Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe.
Fawcett became an inspiration to millions when the NBC documentary titles “Farrah Story” aired in May 2009. It was an incredibly intimate story on her struggle with the disease.
