Senator Rowland Burris of Illinois, the Senator who was appointed to fill President Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat, blames George Bush for Chicago not getting the Olympics in 2016. Burris stated in an interview, shortly after the announcement, that the image of the U. S. has been so tarnished in the last 8 years that, even Barack Obama making an unprecedented pitch for the games could not overcome the hatred the world has for us as a result of George Bush. Wow! When will the Democrats in Congress ever get off this “Blame Bush” syndrome. Burris even went on to say that this is just another way Bush is now hurting Chicago. Yes blame Bush, don’t mind all the crime and corruption that has come out of Illinois over the last year. This “Blame Bush” strategy is getting pretty old.

Author’s Note: While I do think it is commendable for the Obama’s to have made the effort to bring the Olympics to Chicago, I find comments like Burris made reprehensible. I applaud Our President for trying. Sen. Burris is the one here who should be criticized and not the President. Agree ofr disagree with president Obama’s intentions, but he is NOT the one who made such an IDIOTIC statement of blame. Please keep comment on the post related to Burris and the discussion of blaming bush and keep them civil.

Blame Bush will a time honored tradition for decades to come. But …. but ….. I thought with The One in office the world loves us again? I must of misunderstood that.
HAHA…Blame Bush huh? So…can we blame Bush for anything good that happens during Obama’s 4 and ONLY years as President? Oh wait…there won’t be anything good. Obama needs to get his rearend in the dang whitehouse and take care of business, like, hey, aren’t we at war in Afghanistan? Uh, well, I would say so since I have two sons that just got back from Afghanistan, one watched his best friend get blown up right in front of him. The other was on his third mission. So, I would say, he needs to get his priorities in order. He is NOT a moviestar nor is he God. Someone tell him please. Oprah needs to have her head deflated, Oh…it just got deflated…she has no power anymore. Michelle? OMG…the rude remarks about coming after Rio? Someone tell her that she needs to just stay out of the public eye because she is an embarrassment to what WAS an honor of being 1st lady. After Laura Bush, she looks like Mini Mouse. Oh, sorry Mickey.
You have GOT to be kidding. Was it Bush that went to Copenhagen to lobby for Chicago?
Enough already! Getting old is right. At some time the Dems need to look in the mirror.
THE IOC ARE ALL RACISTS!!!
…that must be the issue! Ha!~
Dems and liberals are so quick to blame someone else, look for handouts from someone else and never look in the mirror TO JUST HELP THEMSELVES!
Take accountabiity and do something besides look to blame others.
Blame Bush, Blame Bush yep 3 more years of blameing GRW then well, wait til next year or the next yep it’s getting kinda of sick is it not!!
We call this creative politics. Kind of like creative spelling in skoollz today. We can’t mark it wrong because they are “trying”. I personally appreciate the comic relief.
Could it possibly be that the IOC didn’t like the arrogant American (or not) that is in the White House now?
Or the arrogant committee sent to push for the Chicago Olympics? Or perhaps they heard (giggle) about how corrupt Chicago’s government is?
Or perhaps they just don’t like Oprah!
They need to get it. Not everyone likes you!!!!!
I am just waiting for Jimmy Carter to chime in here and call the IOC racist.
How about if Burris checks his own backyard and gets the gang problem under control. It probably didn’t help Chicago’s bid when the international community saw that poor young honor student get his skull smashed by those thugs, while video taping the awful event rather than going to his aid. But wait, the gang violence is Bush’s fault too according to the Dems right?
Go **** yourself Burris, you racist, swindling thug.
Explain to us again, just how you came to fill Fauxbama’s empty senate seat?
Good grief, where is the personal responsibility? Oh wait, this is the US, I forgot.
You don’t think it has anything to do with high crime in Chicago, or corruption in the state government, or any of those other things?
No, instead it’s the lame blame-shift, it’s Bush’s fault.
Next we’ll be reading that the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941 because of some Bush decision in 2003.
The Ego Has Landed and the Libs are in full retreat now.
Irreprehensible is not a word. Just sayin’
Burris is an even bigger ass than he appeared to be hitherto.
Bush hatred: the last refuge of a scoundrel. Or a Democrat.
Linda, I agree entirely. Obama’s speech continued the apology: Paraphrasing Obama: “America has been EVIL until I came along. I’ve made America better, so reward me and my cronies with the Olympics.” Guess what? The hubris of Obama and Michelle (what a sacrifice it was to go over there and grovel) backfired bigtime. And think about it? Even if we take Obama at his word, why should America then be rewarded for being good only 9 months, when it has been so bad for hundreds of years–esp. the last 8 years under Bush!!! I don’t remember ever seeing a leader of a country show so much disdain for his/her own country as Obama does.
>>Agree ofr [sic] disagree with president Obama’s intentions, but he is NOT the one who made such an IDIOTIC statement of blame.<>I applaud Our President for trying.<<
I don’t. For one thing his ‘effort’ was feeble–just another of his incessant hackneyed campaign speeches. It was as if he expected to make his impact and earn the honor by just showing up.
I don’t believe his intentions were all that honorable either. I think he was just trying to reward his friends in the Chicago political machinery. I honestly wonder whether he would have made the junket to Denmark if the Olympics host contender had been, for example, San Antonio, Texas or Boise, Idaho….
“Agree ofr [sic] disagree with president Obama’s intentions, but he is NOT the one who made such an IDIOTIC statement of blame.”
Obama may not personally have blamed Bush for his failure in Copenhagen [yet], but, by himself repeatedly blaming problems on Bush, he has tacitly encouraged the Left to blame Bush for various and sundry problems he took on when he asked to be elected President. Just one example is when he told Congress in February, “In the last eight years, premiums have grown four times faster than wages. And in each of these years, one million more Americans have lost their health insurance. It is one of the major reasons why small businesses close their doors and corporations ship jobs overseas. And it’s one of the largest and fastest-growing parts of our budget.” In other words, he suggests, the health care problem–not to mention the business and industry drain–was created by the Bush administration.
I think Senator Burris’s comments, as ‘irreprehensible’ as they were, are just one more instance of the orthodox anti-Bush mutterings from the Left, subtly fostered by their Great Leader.
“I applaud Our President for trying.”

I can’t believe Obama pitched for the Olympics when tax-supported General Motors is one of the major sponsors. Enough is enough. We have been schellacked and bamboozaled enough already. Our treasury was looted of how many trillion, the banks are squeezing us with usurious interest rates, the legislature is ignoring our protests and working to bankrupt us with Cap&Trade & mandatory insurance. We should be saving money but are spending to rev up the War, to beef up our local police with the latest mob control machinery, spending spending spending… & Obama has his flunky direct the blame to Bush
Now come on you guys. It is obvious that the stigma of Bush will be the reason of all that goes wrong for many many years to come. Now Emperor Obama has been able to claim credit for overcoming the evil bush stigma with his many successes like…….umm…. there was…no that failed….oh yes he succeeded at….no no that failed too….ummm let me think……Damn that Bush!!! Emperor Obama has succeeded at nothing and it is his fault!
Roland Burris, who is only in office because soon-to-be-impeached Governor Rod Blagojevich appointed him over the objections of every major figure in Illinois, blames W. for The One’s Failings. Talk about Glass Houses…
You write “Please keep coment on the post related to Burris and keep them civil”. But you also write ‘When will the Democrats in Congress ever get off this “Blame Bush” syndrome’. Make up your mind, please. Burris is not “the Democrats in Congress”, he’s a clown, appointed by a criminal over the objections of democrats and republicans alike, but through the quirks of the rules able to obtain a seat. He doesn’t speak for “the Democrats in Congress”, so before you start singing the tired old song about Democrats blaming Bush for everything, why not wait until some other congressional Democrats come out in support of Burris. You’ll be waiting a long time.
Thank you for posting,
i don’t mind comments on anyone here but the comments we were editing were a lot of Hate filled stuff. I just meant keep the discussion on topic. I believe burris is doingthe same thing congress and the white house have been doing for over a year now. I apologize for the ambiguity and thank you for bringing it up.

My letter to the Senator: Senator Burris – I can’t believe your response to the Chicago’s loss of the Olympic bid. Blame George Bush? You’ve got to be kidding! What to they teach you a Democratic Senate School; blame everything on the past administration? Take ownership of the current problems such as the economy and stop the blame game. That’s getting real old. Ever think the corruption in Chicago and Illinois politics might also have something to do with it? Those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
funny – if the world hates the USA so much because of George W. Bush – then why were the Salt Lake games considered such a rousing success?
Perhaps Sen. Burris should look in the mirror. He is symbolic of the status of Chicago, and Illinois, politics. Perhaps the histories, both current and previous, of Chicago and Illinois politics with rampant corruption were to easily discernible by the Olympic committee. I’m sure the ‘civil serenity’ recently demonstrated by Chicago’s youth also had a positive impact.
Nothing has changed in Illinois since I left there over 50 years ago. But back then it was Mayor Daily’s father.
Of COURSE it was Bush’s fault! What is WRONG with you people? Despite the fact that the left spent the past eight years pointing out how stupid, ill-informed and just plain DUMB the former president is/was, it’s a well-loved practice of the same group to blame everything on him. It’s truly amazing to see the twisting and turning.
In fact, the contortions those on the left go through in order to arrange things in their heads so that such a dumba$$ can manipulate and connive with whoever to achieve his evil ends are almost as interesting to watch as any old Olympic games!
I’ve never been able to stomach the two-faced approach the left uses against anyone they can’t stand. Bush was a complete moron, yet he was capable of manipulating the weather in order to “kill the black people of New Orleans.” He was so stupid he believed the intelligence and used it to manufacture a war in Iraq just to get revenge on poor Saddam Hussein.
Do you on the left realize just how insane and, well, stupid, you appear to anyone who really looks at the things you say?
Sen. Burris, there are many reasons why Chicago lost its bid. One of the biggest was the arrogance of the new president and his wife. This couple has bought into the hype that the Chicago machine has been force-feeding the nation. The world, however, does not see them as some magical team who can slay all foes via their charm and wit.
Nope. The world has not bought into the hope and change hype. Instead, they see your power couple as two people who, despite being given the best their nation has to offer in lifestyle, education and undeserved respect, still despise that nation and a good chunk of that nation’s people. This country might have been hated under Bush, but at least there was some respect floating around with that hate.
Today even the French think we’re in deep trouble. That is a disturbing trend you would well be concerned about, If you all could leave off the excuse making and pandering. But no, you would rather continue to whine and cry and make excuses for the man you elected despite every warning that he was clearly not ready to lead a Boy Scout troop much less one of the most powerful nations on Earth.
I’m sure it’s too much trouble for you to bother to look at anything as crass as a fact. Instead, you’ll continue to believe whatever crud is crammed down your throat via the media right up until the time your entire world collapses under the weight of the president and his wife’s combined ego and hype.
Could you all do something for the rest of us, though? Could you rein in your guy and get him back to work so maybe we could not have another 3,000 Americans die because your president chose to ignore the real world?
I dont get why these left wing wacko thugs, especially those from the corrupted Chicago keep blaming Bush for all their shortcomings. Bush was a good President. But, thats not the point. The point is, these thugs like barak HUSSEIN obama, and everyone in the Chicago Syndicate are criminals on their own. They have to point blame elsewhere to try and get the guilt of their own sins off themselves, when it has ALWAYS been their fault. Fact of the matter is, Burris, Blagovich and bama himself ALL need to be in PRISON!
Obama bin laden is doing everything he can to make our country look weak in the world, and setting us up for another 9/11 type of strategy. He bows to muslim prince’s, and looks down his nose at our allies, and now THIS debacle! This man is NOT presidential material, and never was. I honestly believe he HATES our country because he keeps doing this stuff. He does NOT ever salute our flag, and talks down to other countries about America. He’s a total disgrace to our nation, and he should be IMPEACHED and Arrested for TREASON!
Heh. Chicago became a candidate city under Bush. So apparently the IOC didn’t count “being Bush” against the U.S. president at the time.
The IOC did reject Chicago while Obama was president, however.
Clearly, Chicago’s rejection can’t be a case of Obama insufficiently banishing the ignominy of the Bush administration so early in his presidency, if the consideration of Chicago in the first place was just fine with the IOC under Bush.
There’s some serious idiocy out there.
It seems that Sen Burris is a dummy. It wan’t Bush 43 that did Chicago in in the atempt to get the Olympic bid. It was these facts.
1. Europe will be holding the 2012 Olympics in London and Spain has had the Olympics in 1992. So they were going to get it. 2. Japan had the Olympics in 1964, remember Bullet Bob Hayes final leg of the 400 meter relay race, and China just had the Olympics last year. So Asia wasn’t going to get it, 3. the US last had the Olympics in 1996, so that cut out North America. Lastly South America has never had a Olympics so Rio was the logical choice to receive the bid. Plus Rio is a party town and all the Europeans know that.
Bush? I hardly think so. The IOC is crooked, and Rio out bribed, I mean outbid Chicago for the Olympics. I doubt they wanted an Olympic flag with Obama’s “O” symbol in all of the rings. Seriously, the sad part is that there are people that buy into the whole blame Bush thing, thereby allowing Obama to go on with his misdeeds unaccountable.
