Former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush made a surprise and unannounced visit to the families and victims of the recent Fort Hood Terrorist Attack. The former President instructed the Commander at Fort Hood that there would be NO publicity of this visit. The Bush’s are said to have spent over 2 hours talking and consoling the families of the recent tragedy. President Bush showed his true leadership and character by making this visit in private. He had visited the soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center many times in private, with no cameras, when he was President and carried on this tradition, showing his true character as a leader.
President Barack Obama, on the other hand, has announced that he will be attending the memorial service and will be speaking at this event in order to publicly show he cares. Obama recently went to Dover Air Force Base and was video taped saluting the caskets of fallen soldiers as they are returned home. While Bush never visited Dover (something he should have done), he often met with families and soldiers in private and thought it was something a President should do and that it shouldn’t be a publicity moment.

    @ HARRY B

    I agree 100%

George W. Was a true patriot.
Obama is only doing all this making sure the cameras are on him the whole time. It’s embarrassing living in the U.S. and about to join the military with a leader that’s “VERY” unpatriotic. I will have to support him as our president though. But I sure did not vote for Obama and really wish America did a better job voting and not screwing around when it comes to voting a President in office.

I’m very happy that Mrs. and President Bush did this and I respect the way they did it. I applaud them.

To President and Mrs. Bush: Thank you. I appreciate your kindness and consideration, and I am sure all the families at Fort Hood genuinely admired your quick visit.

As uaual, you get part of the story and expound on that. There was more than one family at Dover receiving dead soldiers (7-8 I think). All of the families had the choice to publicly show, or not to publicly show, the return of their family member as the coffins left the plane. Only one family chose to record publicly the return of its family member. ALL these decisions were made BEFORE the families knew President Obama was coming to Dover. Because that one family chose to publicly record theirs, the President was included. President Obama did not go for photo ops.

As for Bush visiting Fort Hood. Just maybe he is feeling a little guilty. After all, it was his foreign policies that created the “war on terror” and the needless war in Iraq. If none of that had taken place, I don’t think there ever would have been a massacre at Fort Hood. And, if it was supposed to be so secretive, how did it get out in the media that he went? Hhmm?

    Sue,
You seem to be missing the point. Yes those families at Dover signed forms before the President went. Obama could have gone to show his respects and NOT taken the press, who it was reported he had assembled just before midnight along with his press secretary to make the trip with him. Now please give me a break here, If the President wanted to show his respects he could have done it in private and NOT with his press secretary and a small group of reproters. I think it was wrong of Bush to never visit Dover and the soldiers returning. I think it was wrong of Barack Obama doing it in front of the cameras. And you are wrong about Bush Creating the war on terror. Bush didn’t create it as islamic fundamentalists have been trying to hurt Americans for well over 2 decades. The story got out in the media because someone took a fast buck and leaked it. BUT YOU DON”T SEE ANY PICTURES DO YOU? This shows Bush did it for the right reasons and Obama was too busy making speeches to congress on saturday to go and console the families. He had to wait until the camera crews got there.

I truly respect my former Commander-N-Chief, the Honorable George W. Bush and former first lady Laura W. Bush, such high-class couple. You know what, during the massacre at Fort Hood, Texas, current President Barak Obama spoke to the nation about the Fort Hood, Texas killings. At first, I assumed he was going to address the Fort Hood, Texas massacre; instead, he went off into the deep in praising and giving shot out to other folks. Now, I’m sitting there on my couch, thinking, what in the hell is going on with our leadership in washington. Soldiers continue to get shot down in cold blood at the Fort Hood Texas Army base, and barak obama wants to address the nation by giving praising indians and going off into the deep end on some other issues; what the hell is going on, Soldiers are dying and he’s talking about indians….You know what cross my mind, “where’s George W. Bush when you need Him” In troubled times such as the Fort Hood Texas Massacre, America needs a leader with a spine, not some spineless MAN-CHILD”..and low and behold, Bush and His lovely wife visited Fort Hood, Texas the very next day…….wow, there is a God.

Since President Obama took office and didn’t bring all the troops home, and since I actually liked him and have tried to be very uncritical of him, I have researched the war and what’s been going on with militant Muslims more than ever. I was trying to figure out why Obama wasn’t ending the war, trying to make excuses for him.

I have come to the conclusion that we were all entirely too hard on President Bush. Bush did not create the war. He was just the first person with the courage to stand up against the aggressors.

We all thought it was just a small group of whack-jobs from Afghanistan, but there are millions of these people all over the globe. Bush got tired of the BS and forced every country’s leader to pledge their allegiance, something that needed to happen. The militant Muslims created the war. They are not just regular folks like I thought they were. They really are evil, just like the Christian Crusaders of past centuries who modern Christians have harshly renounced. Foreign Muslim leaders have rarely renounced suicide bombers. Look it up.

Look at what we’re doing about possible Iran nukes now. They have over a month to hide everyhting before we inspect their surprise nuclear plant! Does that satisfy anyone??? What’s the point of inspecting at all?

Guantanamo Bay is still open – maybe there’s a good reason for that. Meanwhile, a mass jihadist (yes, I call it jihad, or fasad, rather) murderer is currently getting the best possible treatment in a Texas hospital, while more domestic terrorists are empowered, knowing that the Obama administration won’t do anything.

President Bush was a real man. God bless him. It’s too bad I’m just figuring this out.

Why does this site sensor comments? Oh yeah, it’s run by the freedom loving conservatives!

    John,
We do not censor comments on this site. We do edit out potentially offensive words and if a comment is full of obviously false information we will delete it. The tired, old and false arguments that say Bush lied and its all Bush’s fault are better made on articles related to that topic. If you make a comment on the topic of the article and keep it friendly then your comment will be posted. If you make a comment on topic and use other areas to support your topic then you can freely comment all you would like. And we are not conservatives here, all but 2 of the writers here voted for Obama and one of those is in Australia so she couldn’t vote. So again, make comments on topic and with relevant factual information and you can post all you want. While our software does not catch all comments posted we do make every effort to keep it as accurate as possible.
    Thank you,

Excuse me but is the first comment “OBAMA SHOULD STAY BACK IN WASHINGTON DC.SOME OF THE FAMILYS DONT WANT YOU THERE.OBAMA DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE GIs THAT GOT SHOT THURSDAY,FRIDAY,SAT,SUN,MON Y WAIT TILL NOW TO GO.GEORGE BUSH JR WENT ON SAT.BUSH WAS A GREAT LEADER.UNLIKE THE {edited for content} OBAMA IS” factual? No it is not but you did not delete it.

    John,

there were people saying Obama was not wanted there by some of the families, it is a grey area. Yes thecomment gives facts but also states the writers opinion about the article. No our software did not delete this comment automatically I moderated a word that was not in my filter and edited it myself. The statement did not care, while it is opinion cannot be verified, Saying Bush Lied about the war in iraq is factually incorrect and has been proven over and over again.

None of me comments were offensive they only pointed out that Bush was not a true patriot and great leader like some of the other comments made. BTW, all of the above comments are NOT factual they are opinions and as such my opinions should be included.

    John,
Offensive comments are just one of the reasons I gave that comments get deleted. The Obama comment, while not polite, is talking about the subject of the article. If you wish to comment on the article then please do. if you wish to just say Bush Lied and no factual stuff like that while not making a correlation to the article at hand, then your comments will be deleted. Yes that comment made it through the filtering system as it didn’t have any of the flag words I have set up to get triggered..these words include,,,,the “n” word “lie” and other variations of that word….some of the words just flag your comment and post it for moderation, some of the words actually get your comment automatically deleted and we never see them on this side. I know it is not perfect, but it is the best system we have here as we do not have someone here to moderate comments 24 hours day. If you feel you comment should not have been automatically deleted, as I have not seen any of your comments except the one where you were just talking about how bush was lying and stuff and the one about censorship, then I would be glad if you would email me using the contact form with the comment and I will try to straighten it out if there is something wrong with the filter software.I have seen a total of 4 comments for you now so please let me know if this is incorrect.

    Dear Editor,

I believe you don’t know the difference between fact and opinion. You say “The tired, old and false arguments that say Bush lied and its all Bush’s fault are better made on articles related to that topic. If you make a comment on the topic of the article and keep it friendly then your comment will be posted.” The argument that Bush started a war on a lie is a FACT and I did not present it in an unfriendly manner. You might not agree with the fact but that’s your OPINION.

    John,
There is no FACT as you say that you can prove that Bush Lied. The only fact here is that you keep wanting to engage in a debate about bush and the iraq war. This article does not talk about that subject. Please keep on topic. You other comment about “Got something to say” is without merit as the FACT is that if anyone could post anything here then it would turn into a forum, which this is not. I have deleted your post that asked about the above statement and have replied here just to save duplication. If you wish to discuss the article then please do so. if not, then thank you for reading. There will be no discussion of the Iraq war on an article about the fort hood massacre.
    Thanks,
    EDITOR
