Congress Passing Increased Spending Again

Congress is well on its way to passing a massive 1.1 Trillion dollar spending bill that gives pay raises to government employees and increases department budgets by 10%. This huge package covers everything in the federal budget for this year with the exception of defense spending. The defense part of the budget is being held back so that Democrats can attach a debt limit increase to it in order to raise the amount of money we can borrow. This is plain old dirty politics as instead of debating issues the Democrats attach them to other bills to get them passed. It gives federal workers an average of 2% pay increase and increases department budgets by 10%, which is well above inflation. In a time the nation is in trouble and the Obama Administration has promised financial prudence, this bill just keeps the status quo of Spend! Spend! Spend! Democrats have blasted President Bush for increasing our national debt by 6 Trillion dollars in 8 years but they find it OK to double that figure with all of these spending increases. The President’s own estimates is that he will increase our national debt by 12 Trillion dollars if he is in office for 8 years. It is time for our government to make the tough decisions that will get us out of debt. Democrats have allowed that senior citizens will not get a pay raise in Social Security this year but yet it is ok for federal workers to get raises?
