Harry Reid’s Racial Slap Against Obama Forgiven Because He Is a Democrat

Senator Harry Reid made an obviously racial remark in a new book out this week. The Senator made the comment when Obama was a candidate and was talking how America was ready for a black President particularly a “light skinned” one “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” Senator Reid’s allies are all out defending the Senator and trying to play down an obviously racial comment. This is being forgiven because Harry Reid is a Democrat.
One only has to go back a few years to the comment Senator Trent Lott made at a birthday party for Strom Thurmond, where Lott stated, “”I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn’t have had all these problems over all these years, either.”
Putting the statement of Lott into perspective, let’s look at the context of the statement. Senator Lott was paying a compliment to a man at his 100th birthday party. There are no racial words in the statement. But yet, the media and civil rights leaders like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson made the analysis that since Strom Thurmond ran for President in a third party that was against civil rights, then Lott himself was making a racist comment. Trent Lott was berated by the media and forced to resign his position in the Senate. The same position that Senator Harry Reid holds now. Senator Lott was a Republican. Harry Reid’s comments have obvious racial tones in them. But since Harry Reid is a Democrat, he is being given a pass by the mainstream media and our civil right leaders, such as Jackson and Sharpton, are deftly silent. There is no media outrage and no one is calling for Senator Reid to resign his leadership position. President Obama is showing his truly partisan ties as when Trent Lott made his statement, President Obama said, “The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.” In my opinion, the media and even President Obama are giving Reid a pass because he is in their party. I just shows us all that Democrats will do anything to protect their own, even if they are racists and our President Obama is a true Hypocrite and cares more about his party than truth and equality.

Let me see if I understand this.. The same GOP who inserted a quote into Palin’s first official speech at the GOP national convention from Westbrook Pegler, the rabid racist who openly called for the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, now wants to go all PC on Reid for a tacky comment he made several years ago and demand his removal.

We are talking about the same GOP aren’t we?

    MsSwin,
Yes we are talking about the same GOP and the same Dems that have Ku Klux Klan member Robert Byrd. We do not agree with any racist statements but we want EQUAL reactions. what about our President? Shouldn’t he be equal? And the fact that this has just surfaced is a slap on how the MSM views the Democratic Party and give them a pass on issues that they crucify Republicans. Is Obama saying it is ok to be a racist if you support his views? This liberal mindset of trying to dodge the question by pointing out other injustices is getting very old. So I guess you think it is ok to make a racist comment if you are a liberal? Just asking.

Lott’s statement was surprising because he’s a pretty smart guy. Nothing that Reid says would surprise me as he is an idiot.

The bigotry of the Left is nothing new. The Mainstream Media reporting it would be.

some people will always make stupid remarks.. the gop speech, however, was well planned out, as it was the most important speech of the convention.. no excuse there.

    thanks, good site
