NASCAR Needs More Danica Patrick To Boost Ratings

NASCAR has loosened its rules this year. Speculation is that the rules changes were to boost ratings that have sagged in the past couple of years. This has lead to some very dangerous things happening on the track, such as the crash last weekend between Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski. In past years, a driver would have been fined heavily and faced suspension for those kinds of actions, especially when the driver all but admitted in interviews that the crash was intentional. Instead, NASCAR has decided to risk the safety of fans and drivers by showing it will not punish this kind of behavior. Edwards was only put on probation for three races, a slap on the wrist at best. NASCAR should look to other ways to increase the fan base. Take Danica Patrick for example. Danica is driving in the Nationwide series this years and every time she hits the track, fans are all over the place. There is no doubt that Danica brings a new base to NASCAR. NASCAR should be seeking out more female drivers to participate in the series. This would bring a whole new fan base to NASCAR without sacrificing the safety of drivers or fans.
