DWTS Season 7 night 4 recap

New York (CMR) - If you’ve ever read anything I’ve written, you know I love dance-competition shows, particularly So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing With the Stars.

While I would never call myself a dance expert, after watching every season of both shows, I think it’s safe to say that I have an idea of what the judges are looking for.  Clean lines, proper footwork, good energy, great intensity, and look and feel the passion of the music. You know, all that jazz — no pun intended.

So I’m probably going to get a lot of flack on this but I have a real problem with Brooke Burke. Len, Carrie Ann and Bruno clearly love her. And I’ll give credit where credit is due. She is a great, natural dancer — from the neck down. There should be a fire in a dancer’s eyes, especially when they’re tackling a dance as intense and aggressive as the paso doble, not a flicker. When Brooke dances, her face resembles a robot — albeit, a super-hot one, but a robot nonetheless.

There was more fire and passion in Cloris’ eyes during her paso.

So fine, Brooke’s not a very good actress. But then when the judges criticize Misty May Treanor’s straitlaced, way-too-focused face and Kim Kardashian’s cold and soulless take on the rumba, I have a real problem. While I would agree with them on the Misty May and Kim comments, I don’t understand how they can’t say the same about Brooke!

Just because you’re a fabulous dancer, technically speaking, if we don’t see the joy it brings in your face, then the performance is ruined. At least, for me.

You are right, you are no dance expert.

The real dance experts think differently.

Your opinion is worth exactly what I paid for it.

Got something to say?
