Simon Cowell Says Goodbye To American Idol

Simon Cowell, the American Idol judge everybody loved to hate, announced he will be leaving the show at the end of the 2010 season. Cowell will be focusing on his other venture in the UK called The X Factor. American Idol was propelled to its hit status as a result of Cowell’s harsh criticisms and his sometimes brash remarks to contestants. American Idol, one of the biggest hits for Fox Television Network, has had its troubles in the last couple of years with the departure of Paula Abdul as a judge and now with Cowell leaving. Ellen DeGeneres has done a respectable job in taking Paula’s place on the show but one wonders who will take Cowell’s place. Simon Cowell made American Idol what it is today with his blunt and sometimes harsh opinions and views. The last season, the spark was dimmed as DeGeneres and Cowell did not have the same on screen presence as Cowell had with Abdul.
