Dale Earnhardt Jr. finally made a headline of his own by taking the pole in Sunday’s Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Jr. set a new record of 192.761 mph and is the fastest recorded speed for the current car configuration in NASCAR. Dale Jr. has gotten of to a lackluster start this year but this new record shows he is capable of coming on strong. Earnhardt was excited about taking the pole but is concentrating on getting consistent numbers in the series. Earnhardt Jr. stated, “We’re just hungry, so much hungrier to do better on Sunday. We’re starving for a good finish.” All in all, the best publicity in the world is standing in the middle of victory lane and that is something that Earnhardt Jr. needs more than anything.  The Kobalt Tools 500 will start at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday March 7, 2010 at 1 pm eastern time.

    I spell pole P-O-L-E

No one voted for him in a poll, all he had to do is the fasted lap in qualifying.

    Thanks for the correction! EDITOR@CMR

    You may spell “last” L-A-P

Got something to say?
