It appears that for the first time in history, Simon Cowell and the American Idol fans agree about something! According to TV Guide, Idol fans want Bret Michaels to replace Simon Cowell next season as a judge. 71 percent of their viewers say that yes, Bret Michaels should replace Simon Cowell.
Simon himself even threw an endorsement at Bret during the Idol after-party Wednesday night, according to KDVR.com.
So there we have it: the hard-hitting judge who calls it like he sees it is in agreement with Idol fans for once. Bret Michaels would make a great Idol judge, and many viewers are leaving comments to the effect that they weren’t going to watch Idol next season, but if Bret is the judge, they will. Interestingly, many viewers are also saying that Kara DioGuardia can go too…let it be Bret Michaels, Ellen and Randy Jackson.

DioGuardi. Drop the a.
TRUE Idol fans would not want to see ANY replacement for Simon. They would push for him to come back instead of for various and sundry RIDICULOUS candidates to take over his seat. I love Bret, but sorry, he does NOT have ANYTHING that even remotely resembles the phenomenal mystique of one Mr. Simon Cowell. Viewers will not hang on his every word and wait on the edge of their seats for what he will say. Contestants will not quake in their boots awaiting his critique. Auditioners will not value his comments most. No matter how funny, entertaining, or knowledgeable he is, he will be a failure in the role that can be filled ONLY by the one who made it famous.
I agree that Bret would be terrific as a judge! He has the experience and longevity and knows his stuff. I also agree that Kara could go and I wouldn’t miss her either. They should use Michaels, Ellen and Randy because they would make a great team- all three diverse opinionated people who love music!
Well, let it be Ellen, Randy, Bret and his lace wig can be the fourth.
Oh please NO !!!!
I think Harry Connick Jr. would be a perfect fit to repalce Simon..he is hystericallly funny and very good at what he does. He would be more fun to watch then Bret Michaels who comes across too serious and he isnt really funny….
Nothing too personal against Bret, but if ratings are what theyre after, Bret is no Cowell.
Besides, as a nurse, brain seizures and heart conditions, unless congenital in nature just scream drug use. Usually cocaine related.
Theres my 2 cents. C
Great- from one ‘middle-aged’ bad dresser to a much worse dresser!! From one ‘same-old’ to another ‘same-old’. Oh, Brother! But, I do agree, Bret could be a great judge, I don’t think he will be as biting as Simon, but he doesn’t know music! I also am a little nervous that his medical problems could pose problems for the show.
Not Brett. I think the ideal judge should be brash, honest, funny, and big (in terms of celebrity status). I think Alec Baldwin or William Shatner would be fantastic.
Ugg Get rid of Randy Jackson too. Listening to him boo Simon for 10 years, and having him say “pitchy” or “It didn’t work for me” is 5 years too long. Get Conick, Jr., Shaina Twain, or someone else for his job. Ellen didn’t offer much either so really shake things up and get all new judges. That would be the kick in the Area that Idol needs as it was really stale the last couple of seasons.
Bret would be good, but I also loved when Harry Connick Jr. was their mentor. He would be good too, and he is so funny.
i would love to see bret michaels or harry connick jr. how bout get rid of ellen and hire both. LOL
