Gabourney Sidibe’s mother, Alice Tan Ridley, was on “America’s Got Talent” tonight and boy! Does she have some talent! The woman can SING. Gabby came by her talent honestly folks, the acorn fell right under that tree.

Alice Tan Ridley has been singing in subway stations for 20 years, she told the judges, and YouTube videos confirm that the amazing talent has indeed been on display and not signed for quite some time.

Sharon Osbourne asked Ms. Ridley how it is that she’s been singing like that in the subway for so long and not been signed?

Ms. Ridley did not really answer, just said thank you, but my daughter and I discussed it and here’s what we think: The only talent that gets “found” is talent that belongs to people who look like Barbie dolls. Lady Gaga comes to mind. It’s also possible that music producers don’t use the subway as much as they should in the interests of going green (and finding talent).
