Boson (CMR) - Leave it to Sylvester Stallone to revive the classic 1980 icon. A few years ago, Rocky Balboa became a great hit and although the setting acknowledges his age, he really did something about the movie that made it remarkable – he polishes it with a human side. This time, the 60ish Stallone is back like a war veteran he is almost two decades ago – ready to fight without saying too much.
The formula of Rambo’s story is almost the same – a little bit hesitant to fight at first but with enough motivation he comes out with his Vietnam War arsenal to kick everyone in the nuts. This time he doesn’t want to help the missionaries but when they are abducted by the bad guys from Burma, he’s back with arsenal and…we’ll you got to watch what happens then.
Of course, John Rambo doesn’t look the same. He’s a lot older now and if I’m not mistaken, his speaking lines have become increasingly smaller – judging from the guns fired plus he’s increasingly becoming a more silent individual.
Rambo is not for the faint hearted. The movie shows the unknown brutality currently happening in some of the Asian countries. You might feel sick about it but apparently it will give you the chance to prepare for the brutality the movie it can depict. Forget about the usual John Rambo as this film will show how he can get really merciless with the enemies.
Culturally, this movie has more than the usual effects especially to those in Burma. The country is pleased that has actually shown some of their sides although I don’t think some are actually happy with the way they are depicted.
With the way the story is presented with the actual format being almost the same, I think the demographics of Mr. Stallone have grown old with him. If you haven’t watched some of his movies during his heydays especially one of his Rambo movies in the theaters, you might find or dub him as another washed up actor. But if you’ve watched one of his movies during those years, you will be surprised how good this movie is even though you didn’t like some of the previous Stallone movies.
If you’re looking for a great acti
on movie that doesn’t pause to think and talk about mayhem, this is the movie for you. Mr. Stallone has reprised his role to make his fans remember enough what he is and what he could be. A great effort for a movie to make us all remember.
CMR gives rambo a rating of 3.5/5
