Review Meet The Spartons

Los Angeles (CMR) - “Meet the Spartans” gives us a familiar feel of the epic movie 300 in a certain way depending on your general TV experience. If you’re a good follower of MadTV be prepared to laugh out loud in this movie and if not, be prepared to laugh out loud, at least in some parts of the movie.

“Meet the Spartans” brings to the big tube some of the MadTV comics as well as the characters they play in the popular TV skit show. From Britney to American Idol, you’ll see a lot of people imitated in this movie. Because of the characters and the people they play, it led me to think that this might be just an extended version of MadTV. Considering that the movie lasts only for 75 minutes, you’re just looking at another MadTV installment without the commercials.

The good thing about the movie though is it doesn’t really give that much effort to make people laugh. The funniest parts of the movie is actually not the spoofs they made but on their quirky movements and exaggeration of some of the known facts. Look out for Carmen Electra as she makes fun of herself both as a character and a real-life movie star that she is.

But as good as their joke sounds at first; you’ll realize that you might already have heard them before. In fact, when I remember it again as I write this, they are just reminding me of the bizarre and interested things that happened in 2007. Sadly, the joke is just one time and could never be repeated. Trying to watch it the second time will be a bore and remembering what you just saw might not really stir up a good conversation – or at least you wanted to bash the movie so hard you might find yourself laughing.

In the end, “Meet the Spartans” is just a movie good for one good laugh. You can go on with your life after seeing the movie for an hour and 15 minutes except for the movie ticket you just spent on watching this film.
A great laugh could be seen here and there but it’s not going to be at the caliber of “Scary Movie” type.
This spoof movie goes with the “The Comebacks” which I barely remember and “Date Movie” which is also a disaster.

The producers might have earned millions with this movie but everyone is getting tired of yet spoof movies.

CMR gives Meet “Meet The Spartons” a rating of .5 out of 5.
