Movie Review: Twilight Saga: New Moon Not As Good As Hype

The Twilight Saga: New Moon opened nationwide yesterday with great fanfare. The movie has taken in record amounts of money, a little over 70 million last count, and is set to be the top box office attraction this weekend. Twilight New Moon’s success at the box office can be attributed to the constant media frenzy surrounding cast members and a remarkably planned marketing campaign by Summit entertainment. The Movie didn’t live up to the image that was expected from such media hype.
First, Robert Pattinson gave a solid performance as his returning character, the vampire Edward Cullen. This young actor has grown tremendously in his skills and was very believeable. Next, Kristen Stewart returned as Bella, Edward’s love interest and also gave another great performance. Robert and Kristen have had many rumors floating around that the two are dating in real life. They were both very good in their performance in New Moon and you could almost feel the heat from them. Last but not least, Taylor Lautner returned as Jacob, the werewolf. Taylor has grown in many ways in this film. Taylor added over 30 pounds of sheer muscle and his hunky body shows. Lautner also stepped up his acting a notch and gave a performance that many more “Seasoned” actors would love to be able to duplicate.
Twilight New Moon was too big of a beast for this trio of young actors to be able to carry. The graphics and special effects in this film were very substandard. The part where the werewolves change from human form is quick and almost instant, giving them a very fake look. Director Chris Weitz missed the mark in many places as it seemed the story skipped by too fast where it should have been more detailed and it seemed to drag along in places making me wish it would hurry up and get to the next part.
Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner should be proud of their work in this movie. Chris Weitz needs to rethink his approach to directing as he missed the mark in Twilight Saga: New Moon.

i hate jacob in the book i luv taylor lautner
uhm i completley disagree this movie was wonderful bella and edward were strong characters through out the movie havindg me on the edge of my seat to see more jacob was wonderful his acting skills and his over all character was so good in this production i see why it was nearly sold out every where. there was nothing in this movie i would change, the three of them handled this movie better then good, it was fantastic.
I totally agree with this review. The cast was good, but the direction of the film was not up to par with the book… Not even close.
I agree with this review. It didn’t really flow that well and I was very disappointed with the reunion scene. Some scenes were rushed and the editing wasn’t the greatest. As for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, they had alot of chemistry and did an exceptional job at capturing the essence of the characters.
As an indiviual who read all four books i really didnt think the movie did much justice. while i still enjoyed the film i was slightly disappointed with the new directors choices. all of the cullens appeared to look really unattractive compared to the first movie, as supposedly the most beautiful creatures in the world they just ended up looking creepy and i dont believe thats what the author of the book entailed for them to look. also my sister was quite irate about small details that had been changed from the first movie, like in all the books he drives a silver four door sedan, and in the movie he had a black crossover looking vehicle. overall the acting was terrific, and taylor lautner made me fall in love with jacob but i think compared to all the hype surrounding the movie it was a little bit of a let down.
i thought the movie was a huge let down! i was so dissappointed! the movie drug on && on. i thought it was never going to end! i thought with as long as they made the movie they should have done more with Bella & Jacob. that was pretty much the whole book anyway. i think with the first movie doing as well as it did they tried to get the second one out as fast as they could && didnt spend the needed time on the directing. the werewolves were a let down. the whole movie was a let down. i thought maybe if i watched it again i would like the movie better but i honestly dont think i could even sit through another 2 hours & 20 min to watch the movie again. but on a lighter note the actors did a great job with as young as they all are && with them being newer in the movie industry. Taylor looked absolutely amazing.:)
I’ve read all four books, and was very excited to finally see the movie, “New Moon”, but I was very disappointed with it. All of the characters did not look as they did in the first movie, they did not look as the book describes them, it seemed to jump very quickly from scene to scene, the music was very distracting, and I could not get myself into it. I think that “Twilight”, was great, I really hope that they make “Eclipse”, more interesting. The books are way more exciting then this movie was.
Bring back the Indy feel of Twilight! Bring back Catherine Hardwicke if need be. She had the touch but not the budget. What was going on with New Moon???? The music I noticed was generic – could have been written for any “epic” movie and lacked character. The actors didn’t have the raw passion they had in the first film – it was almost like they were more “professional”. I’m sorry but this points to the direction not being inspired. The vampires’ eyes were overstated-gold vs the slightly more subtle tawny that Twilight delivered. The face makeup was much better although the scene that focused on Edward’s hand showed a poor makeup job that day which broke me out of the movie as I noticed that. Although a few moments didn’t work I actually did like the werewolves/shapeshifters as I think that was probably fairly hard to pull off and I’m not a CGI expert so I appreciated the work. Billy Black was amazing as usual. Excellent expressions on all the actors’ faces. It will be a huge loss to miss Lafevre as Victoria in #3. I would be surprised if Stephanie Meyer is really as stoked in a gut-level way with this film as she was with Twilight. In Twilight, it had the feel, even when the makeup and wires were silly. There was just no excuse for the big budget flick being this generic. Maybe they could bring back Hardwicke for Eclipse – something to get the independent, slightly “B-movie” feel back. Twilight was AUTHENTIC and New Moon didn’t have it the same way.
Yes the directing needed some work but the actors were great. In fact I was so captivated with Robert’s fantastic acting skills i didn’t notice the flaws. I must say I felt more time was needed with the reunion but i can live with it. the kiss they shared at the reunion was hot.The music was weird but i thinkit captured the mood of the movie. I saw it 3 times and going for a 4th.
I love Robert pattinson!! Ask Me to marry you .Please..!!
